ARt_ifact™ lets you leave digital content (photos, text, 3D models, audio) at real-world locations. Others can discover and experience your ARt_ifacts by visiting the same place.
ARt_ifact requires iOS 26.0 or later and runs best on iPhones with LiDAR (iPhone 12 Pro and later) for faster plane detection and precise mesh reconstruction.
Scanning helps the app understand your space by finding surfaces like floors and walls. This makes sure content is placed correctly and helps others find it later.
Yes! ARt_ifact supports both horizontal surfaces (tables, floors) and vertical surfaces (walls). Photos and text automatically align with the surface orientation.
You can place unlimited ARt_ifacts in a single scene. Each scene is saved separately and can contain photos, text, 3D models, audio, and graffiti in any combination.
Open the Discover tab to see a map of nearby ARt_ifacts. Blue pins are yours, orange pins are public content from others, and green pins are privately shared with you.
The arrow points toward the scene location using your device’s compass. Follow it to get close to the ARt_ifact (within 10m is ideal), then scan the area to recreate the scene.
You need to be at the original location where it was created. Get within 10 meters, then scan the area. The app uses your camera to find the exact spot and show the content.
When multiple scenes are close together, they’re grouped into a cluster (shown as a number). Tap the cluster to see all nearby scenes in a list.
Relocalization is how the app finds the exact spot where you placed content. It uses your camera, GPS, and compass to match your current location to where the content was originally placed.
Common issues:
Tip: Move slowly and look around the whole area.
The app picks the best method based on where you are.
Indoor scenes rely on visual features like walls, windows, and floor patterns. If major furniture moves, relocalization may be affected. Outdoor scenes use GPS and are more resilient to changes.
You can delete any ARt_ifact at any time from My Content.
Location is only used when placing or discovering ARt_ifacts. We don’t track your movements. Scene locations are stored in CloudKit and only shared according to your privacy choice (Public/Private/Personal).
Tap any ARt_ifact, then tap the ··· menu and select ‘Report’. We review all reports and remove content that violates our guidelines.
Yes! Go to Settings → My Content, select the scene, and tap Delete. This removes it from CloudKit and the map immediately.
Check that you chose a sharing option (Public/Private/Personal). If you dismissed the share sheet without selecting, the scene wasn’t saved. Try placing again and complete the sharing flow.
